ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To compare the effect of two different arthroscopic procedures, threading lasso fixation and full-thickness conversion, for repairing articular-sided partial-thickness supraspinatus tendon tear.@*METHODS@#From July 2015 to November 2018, 21 patients with articular-sided partial-thickness supraspinatus tendon tears underwent arthroscopic modified threading lasso fixation repair(group A). There were 12 males and 9 females in the group, with an average age of(53.2±6.4)years old. Twenty-four patients with articular-sided partial-thickness supraspinatus tendon tears received arthroscopic full-thickness conversion repair(group B). In this group, there were 14 males and 10 females, with an average age of (55.7±5.2) years old. The American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score and University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) shoulder score were used to evaluate preoperative and postoperative clinical function. MRI was used to examine the healing status of the reconstructed rotator cuff.@*RESULTS@#All patients were followed up, and the duration ranged from 20 to 27 months, with a mean of (23.7±3.1) months. In threading lasso fixation group, ASES score and UCLA score increased from 50.6±6.4 and 15.6±2.7 preoperatively to 87.3±5.2 and 31.6±2.4 postoperatively. In full-thickness conversion group, ASES score and UCLA score increased from 52.3±5.6 and 16.8±2.4 scores to 90.1±4.8 and 32.1±2.8. There were also no significant differences in ASES score and Constant score between the two groups before and after operation. There were no significant differences in rotator cuff healing between the two groups(χ2=2.374, P=0.128).@*CONCLUSION@#For the treatment of articular-sided partial-thickness supraspinatus tendon tears both arthroscopic repairs employing threading lasso fixation and full-thickness conversion could achieve satisfactory clinical results, and there are no significant differences in clinical outcomes between the two techniques. Arthroscopic repair with threading lasso fixation is a novel transtendinous procedure in which integrity of the tendon can be preserved.

ABSTRACT

The application status of acupuncture and moxibustion therapy for assisted reproductive field in the United States was analyzed, and the existing problems and future development directions were discussed. According to the survey on the 456 websites of assisted reproductive clinic in the United States mentioned in the report of U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 111 clinics among 456 assisted reproductive clinics recommend and used acupuncture and moxibustion therapy, accounting for 24.3%. Acupuncture and moxibustion therapy had obvious effect, good safety and low cost, and the assisted reproductive institutions in the United States had a high degree of application and recognition to acupuncture and moxibustion therapy. However, some problems, such as immature treatment scheme, unclear mechanism and imperfect insurance policies, still existed. In the future, the advantages of Chinese traditional acupuncture and moxibustion should combine with international modern assisted reproductive technology, and multi-center and large-sample clinical randomized controlled trials and basic experimental research on the mechanism of acupuncture and moxibustion for assisted reproduction should be carried out.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#The research was to investigate the intermediary effect of school adjustment between famale college students’ life meaning and mobile phone addiction and to provide reference for mobile phone addiction prevention.@*Methods@#Totally 1 355 female college students in Jinan City were investigated with Life Meaning Scale, School Adjustment Scale and Mobile Phone Addiction Scale.@*Results@#Score of freshmen’ mobile phone addiction (34.02±7.87) was significantly lower than that of sophomores’ and junior’(36.67±8.03, 37.19±10.40)(F=4.58, P<0.05). Female college students’ life meaning and school adjustment were negatively correlated with mobile phone addiction(r=-0.50, -0.58, P<0.01). Female college students’ life meaning was positively correlated with school adjustment(r=0.51, P<0.01). Having a sense of life meaning and seeking a sense of life meaning could jointly explain 24% of the variation in mobile phone addiction. School adjustment played a complete mediating role between life meaning and mobile phone addiction in female college students.@*Conclusion@#Female college students’ life meaning can affect mobile phone addiction through school adjustment.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To analyze the effect of acupuncture versus hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for premature ovarian insufficiency (POI). Methods: China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Academic Journal Full-text Database (Wanfang), Chongqing VIP Database (CQVIP), China Biology Medicine Disc (CBM), Web of Science, Cochrane Library, PubMed, and Excerpta Medica Database (EMBASE) were searched up to January 31st, 2019 to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) evaluating the effect of acupuncture for POI. The primary outcome was the level of basal serum follicle- stimulating hormone (FSH). Secondary outcomes included serum levels of luteinizing hormone (LH), estradiol (E2) and anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH). Two authors extracted data independently and assessed the risk of bias and the methodological quality using the Cochrane's tool. Meta-analysis was conducted by RevMan version 5.3. Results: Eight eligible RCTs with a total of 496 POI patients were included in the meta-analysis. The pooled results showed that there was a significant reduction in the basal serum FSH level (MD=-5.82, 95%CI:-9.76 to -1.87, I2=82%, P=0.004) and a remarkable elevation in the basal E2 level (SMD=0.93, 95%CI: 0.34 to 1.52, I2=88%, P=0.002) in the acupuncture group when compared with the control. Subgroup analysis showed that compared with HRT, a significant decrease in the FSH level was observed in both acupuncture alone (MD=-4.53, 95%CI:-8.96 to -0.10, I2=73%, P=0.04) and acupuncture plus HRT (MD=-9.60, 95%CI:-17.60 to -1.61, I2=50%, P=0.02), while a remarkable elevation of E2 was only found in acupuncture plus HRT (SMD=1.43, 95%CI: 1.03 to 1.82, I2=0%, P<0.00001). There was no significant difference in the LH level between acupuncture and HRT (MD=-3.16, 95%CI:-9.41 to 3.10, I2=0%, P=0.32), only one trial reported AMH, and no significant difference was found between acupuncture and HRT. Conclusion: The present study indicated that acupuncture had an advantage over HRT in reducing serum FSH level and increasing serum E2 level in women with POI. However, evidence supporting the finding is limited due to the small sample size, potential methodological flaws and significant heterogeneity. Hence, this conclusion still needs to be verified by high-quality RCTs.

ABSTRACT

To explore the basic principles and methods of quality control of clinical registry research in the field of acupuncture. This study drawed on the data quality control methods of clinical trials in the United States and combined clinical practice experience, based on the "International Patient Registry Platform of Acupuncture and Moxibustion", and the registry study of acupuncture treatment for early-onset ovarian insufficiency as a model. The principles of accuracy, authenticity, consistency and completeness were followed. A remote and on-site quality control method with remote quality control as the main and on-site quality control as the supplement is formed, with a view to providing ideas and reference for the quality control of registry research.

ABSTRACT

Background: Ovarian masses are common gynecological diseases which may appear and develop in any age group. Despite low prevalence rates, ovarian cancers still have a poor prognosis with high mortality rates, which can be effectively treated in the case of early detection and diagnosis. Methods: A total of 368 cases with ovarian masses treated from January 2016 to December 2017 were selected. These patients were diagnosed again by junior and senior blinded physicians using International Ovarian of Tumor Analysis simple rules (IOTA-SRs) and Gynecologic Imaging Reporting and Data System (Gi-Rads) respectively. Then the diagnostic efficiencies of 2 combined methods and individual ones were compared. Results: For the diagnosis of 368 patients, there were no significant differences between the sensitivity, PPV, NPV and DAR using IOTA-SRs and Gi-Rads by junior and senior physicians (p>0.05). Combining the 2 methods, it boosted the diagnostic performance, with the sensitivity, specificity, and DAR increasing to 96.3%, 92.31%, and 93.48% respectively. The sensitivity and NPV were significantly different (p=0.021, 0.032, p<0.05). Conclusion: Both IOTA-SRs and Gi-Rads had higher diagnostic performance and lower dependence on clinical experience. Combining the 2 methods may enhance the diagnostic performance, especially the sensitivity and NPV. Therefore, it is worthwhile to combine IOTA-SRs with Gi-Rads in the standardization and implementation of public reporting mechanism and the promotion of accurate pre-procedural stratification.

ABSTRACT

Objective To construct a new gene delivery system based on atelocollagen (ATE),and explore that modified aptamer (APT),and APT-ATE/miRNA (miRNA-15a and miRNA-16-1) were successfully synthesized to treat bone-metastatic prostatic cancers. Methods Flow cytometry (FCM) analysis was used to characterize APT-ATE complex. The diameter and zeta potential of complexes were measured by Zetasizer Nano-ZS9.The prostatic cancer (PCa) distribution experiments were used to explore its biological characteristics and targeting ability of PCa cells (PC3 and LNCaP).The inhibition of APT-ATE complex on LNCaP cell was determined with the cholecystokinin (CCK)-8 assay. Results FCM results demonstrated the successful synthesis of ATE-APT complex. The cellular uptake of vectors was concentration-dependent.The gene expression in vitro indicated that the modification of APT could increase the efficiency of gene expression and PCa targeting ability of ATE vectors to LNCaP [prostate specific membrane antigen (PSMA) over-expressing prostate cancer cells].The result of biodistribution showed that the bone uptake of APT-ATE was higher than ATE-APT.Conclusions APT-ATE/miRNA might be useful for preclinical and clinical studies on the treatment of bone-metastatic PCa.

ABSTRACT

Some issues on the auricular acupuncture including its effectiveness and side effects, the relationship of positive reaction and diseases, the key point of auricular point selection and standard auricular point popularization and application, are debated in this paper according to the authors' comprehension based on their many years clinical and teaching practice. In the paper, the authors point out that the auricular acupuncture has the characteristics of the high effective rate, low cured rate and some recurrence rate. The relationship of positive reacted point in the auricular acupuncture and disease include two kinds of reaction as "one point for multiple diseases" and "one disease for multiple points". Correct locating and reasonable selection of auricular points are the key point for using auricular point. Finally, the authors propose that standard auricular point still has not been popularized, and also, it should be paid attention to the problem of side effect induced by the auricular acupuncture.
